Topstitch - MANLY

I've used my Window Charms more in the last week than in the last year! I guess I re-discovered them!! You know how things like to hide in the bottom of the drawer!

I love the definitions - a new set called "State of Mind". It includes Giddy, Love, Happiness, Beautiful, Favorite, Joyful, and Twitterpated (and Kindness). ;-)

I've been SO lazy! Santa brought me the entire 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls. Kristen and I watched them together when she was in high school - we thought we WERE the Gilmore Girls!!! The year Kristen went off to BU, was the year Rory went to Yale. I couldn't watch! It was just too much for me - I was struggling with the separation. But, as you know, I survived - my precious daughter grew up to be an amazing woman. I can watch Gilmore Girls now! My excuse is that I need to keep my knee elevated with ice (right?). LOL

Topstitch

I just love this new paper from Close-to-My-Heart! It's called Topstitch and it's very versatile. This card (girly) and another one I made (manly) from the same pack - now that's neat! This card was inspired by one by Teresa Kline found here.

I've been enjoying having my Kristen & her Brian here - Sean, too! Sean is Kristen's best friend and although he lives here, he only comes over when she's in town. We've had wonderful long talks, snacks, games, and late-late nights! When K and B left this morning to visit her father's side of the family in Prescott - I went back to bed! I'm not used to staying up until 2 AM!!! ;-)

Thank goodness I don't have to work this week! I'm still off with the knee - and my progress is remarkable! I've been going to the gym to use the stationary bike and there is definite progress each day. I'm moving better, getting stronger, hurting less. Yea for me!

I hope to post more - I've got lots of Thank You notes to prepare, and hope to get started on the Ya-Ya scrapbook!!!

Hugs!

Veranda Creative Basics - Sneak Peak!

True confessions - I copied shamelessly out of the new Close-to-My-Heart catalog to be released 1/1/10. This is the cutest stamp set - and the paper (Veranda) is beautiful!

I'm getting this post done quickly as it is FINALLY time to go to the airport to pick up my darling daughter and her boyfriend! Yippee!!!

Later alligator!

Update!

Surgery went well - I got home about 3:30 and had a bowl of rice and took a pain pill - - - then straight to bed. I slept a couple of hours, and awoke with a little nausea. I think I'll try to get off that particular pill as soon as possible.

I've been walking all over the house - it isn't any more difficult than it was before the surgery so that's great news! From here, it will just be getting better and better!

Thank you all for your prayers and well-wishes. Oh, and for those who weren't sure what I was having done, it was a torn meniscus and removal of a cyst in my knee. The tear and cyst were worse than the surgeon predicted, but he managed them beautifully. Can you stand a funny story? The anesthesiologist was quizzing me before surgery on what I'd eaten and asked about my current pain. I said "yes" and he asked me to describe it. When I mentioned a headache, he asked if I'm a coffee drinker (which I most certainly am!) and then he ordered caffeine to be added to my IV!!! Now THAT's customer service!!!!

Namaste.

Another peak at Topstitch!

Oooeeee! What a busy week, huh! This card is one of the 15 I've send for birthdays during December! No-one should be allowed to have a birthday in December. There is too much else to get done. LOL

I love this new Topstitch paper! The piece on the right hand side - with the circles, is from the package. It's for a guy friend of mine - so I needed it to be "not girly" (well, duh). My, I'm very articulate tonight. I haven't even had any drugs (yet)!!!

Tomorrow is my surgery. I'm excited, ready, happy to have it here finally. I am NOT worried, NOT afraid, NOT expecting anything but a perfect and speedy recovery! Gosh - tonight SHOULD have been Yoga night - and I want to get back to it already!!!!!

(ok, breathe deeply, let out the tension with your exhale).

Namaste.

Sneak Peaks! Topstitch and Felicity

The lovely bird is available as part of the Close-to-My-Heart Felicity special, just for National Papercrafting Month - and for these cards, I paired it with a new paper pack (available 1/1/10) called Topstitch (the diagonal stripe). I couldn't decide between the blush and crystal blue, which do you like better?

This weekend was very productive! It's amazing all of the things you think about needing to prepare when you might not be as mobile as you would like to be! LOL In addition, Kristen and Brian are coming next Sunday (less than a week now!!) and it's Brian's first time here - so I'm working on a good first impression. I found a couple of hours in the craft room because I wanted to plan ahead projects and place everything I'll need close to the work table. Minimize the getting up and down aspect.

Well - off to work! Have a wonderful week - don't wear yourselves out with the preparations too much!

Hugs.

Cheery Cactus

Driving to see friends on Saturday - I had to circle the block and come back to take a photo of this house - - - their "Cheery Cactus" was just so stinkin' cute!!!

Hope it brings a smile for you, too!

Waltzingmouse Star

Today I had a few minutes to play on things that didn't have to be mailed "yesterday" or wrapped "tomorrow" - it was refreshing! I've missed my craft room! I have had these gorgeous Waltzingmouse stamps for a month without having time to play with them - they are just gorgeous - amazing to use and easy to align - the set has everything you could want to finish them off in a variety of ways! I bought the Spellbinders Star Nestie to use to cut them - although they would be simple to cut by hand. The embossing is a nice touch . . .

I put up my Christmas tree today - not the ornaments (except those that were scattered throughout the house already) but one of these stars made it onto the tree! I wish I had another day to just play - the weekend was too short.

Happy Monday - dear friends!

Help? Cake in a cup . . .

Ummm. This isn't exactly what I was hoping for! It did make me laugh out loud, though!!! I found a recipe for making "cake in a cup" and last year I had scooped up some wonderful large cappucino cups on sale so I thought, "sure! With a little gift certificate - a very fun gift!". The first trial run (because we have to try chocolate cake, don't we?) resulted in a dry-as-a-bone hunk that was unedible. My second try was much better, but not an "oh-my-gosh" kind of yummy. I thought I'd try it with a whole egg (the recipe called for egg white) and a few more chocolate chips and this was the result! It's so amazing I just had to share it with you!

Do you have a really yummy cake in a cup recipe? I mean, oooey-gooey and with each spoonful you make little moaning noises? Would you share??

Happy Saturday!

Hello - I'm still here!

I don't have any art to post - it's been a very busy weekend and I've spent lots of time in the craft room, but everything has been about getting the Christmas cards ready to put in the mail. I forgot how long it takes to write a note in 100 cards, and address them and all that! So, I've made nothing new at all!

I didn't want to you be worried about me - my surgery isn't scheduled until 12/23 so between now and then I'll be very busy laying in supplies (like groceries and things for Christmas) and getting as much as possible DONE before I'll need to be still (and scrapbook!) :D

I did take a break today to go see The Blind Side with my friends. What a great movie! I loved Sandra Bullock - she was amazing. I want to grow up to be like her someday!

Have a wonderful week!
Hugs.

Card Kit - Celebrate Everything!

Gosh! I must be the last person to actually OPEN my Close to My Heart Celebrate Everything card kit! It's so much FUN! I actually needed a whole bunch of birthday cards (12) for December and so during the Open Stamping day I worked on making the kit! I "altered" them just a tiny bit from the plan to make them better for birthdays. Here were a couple of my favorites!

I'm finding it hard to believe it's Tuesday evening already. I feel a little like a ship without a rudder - no Yoga on Tuesday nights to let me know how fast the week is progressing. No Yoga on Friday night (and hence, no green curry treat). I'm so pathetic. Well, surgery is scheduled now - I should be walking again the next day! I know things will work out the way they are supposed to; I am very loved.

Namaste.
