This is an old-ish card that I recently spruced up with one more layer of matting and used as a sympathy card. The shaving cream technique is the highlight of this one, for sure! It is one of the few where I've done the technique on cardstock rather than glossy paper. I like how the technique works on cardstock . . . there is a subtle difference in the way the paper soaks up the ink.
I enjoyed a visit to my daughter's "Farfar" yesterday. "Farfar" means "father's father" in Danish - he is so much fun, so full of life and has such a good heart! 89 years young. He and his wife live in Prescott. He immigrated to the US from Denmark in 1954 with a wife and 3 small children. Can you imagine going so far away from the life you knew? New places, new language, new people. At one point in our conversation yesterday he pondered what changes his new great-grandson (born just a few months ago to my niece) will experience during his lifetime. As we looked backward in amazement at all that has happened these past 89 years we know that there is no limit to the possibilities.
I'm so thankful that I got to spend the time with Aage and Jeanne.
Namaste.

It is a blessing to spend time with older folk - to share their memories and learn from their experiences....
love your pretty card Sharli with the shaving cream technique - I've only done this once because it's a little messy!! but the results are certainly worth it!
So pretty, Sharli! I love the marbled paper look created by the shaving cream technique.
How nice you had the opportunity to visit with your daughter's "farfar." When I marvel at the changes I've seen in my lifetime, I can only imagine what an 89-year-old thinks. I'm glad you enjoyed your time with them.
This is a technique I have on my very long "to do" list. Your card is beautiful!
I really enjoy reading your posts. What wonderful experiences you have and share with us and this was one of them. After reading this one, I thought about something funny...my daughter has no idea what a rotary dial on a phone looks like...but I do.
What a pretty card! Thanks for sharing the shaving cream technique idea, something I have yet to try. Elderly people have SO MUCH to share--isn't it neat to spend time with them and benefit from their wisdom?! Great story. Will you scrapbook about "farfar"?
So soft and pretty, Sharli! Great job with the shaving cream technique ... I must try this on card stock myself! Thanks for the inspiration!!
Wonderful result from the shaving cream technique. Your card is beautiful.
Lovely story about you daughter's "farfar" and so true. If you listen to country music, Brad Paisley has a song called Welcome to the Future, about the amazing advances in one's lifetime.
What a wonderful legacy to share the widsom.
